Tips For New Invisalign Patients

Invisalign uses a series of clear plastic aligners to gradually shift your teeth into their desired position. Every two weeks, you’ll switch your aligners out for a new pair. The aligners are invisible and fit snugly over your teeth.

Invisalign is a fantastic option for many patients. However, it is not for everyone. Here are some things to keep in mind if you’re thinking about getting Invisalign treatment.

Wear Your Aligners For 20-22 hours a Day

Invisalign aligners are designed to be worn 20-22 hours per day. In fact, studies have shown that Invisalign patients are more likely to comply with their treatment plan when wearing their aligners for the recommended amount of time.

Use Invisalign Cleaning Crystals

Wear your aligners for at least 22 hours a day to ensure the best results. However, you should remove and clean your aligners at least once a day.

Invisalign cleaning crystals are an important component of your Invisalign cleaning routine. These crystals help remove plaque and bacteria from the aligners. Use them each time you remove your aligners to keep them fresh and clean.

When your aligners are fresh and clean, they will be most effective.

Avoid Brushing Your Teeth With Toothpaste

Patients undergoing Invisalign treatment should avoid brushing their teeth with toothpaste. It’s extremely important to brush after every meal and floss daily. Otherwise, this can cause tiny particles of food to stick to your teeth and Invisalign aligners. Over time, this can cause discoloration or permanent staining.

Do Not Play With Your Lips

When wearing Invisalign to straighten your teeth, it is important to avoid playing with them. Your mouth is still getting used to the aligners, and any unnecessary movement can cause them to become loose. It is important to wear the aligners for a minimum of 22 hours a day.

Remove Only When Needed

When you’re wearing Invisalign, you should only remove your aligners to eat, drink, brush, and floss. Removing them for any other reason can slow down your treatment.

Wear Retainers After Treatment

When you’ve completed your Invisalign treatment, don’t forget to wear your retainer! Your retainer helps keep your teeth in position. If you don’t wear your retainer as instructed, your teeth may gradually shift out of place.
